Area Attractions

Although we may be the number one destination for scuba diving/snorkeling we completely understand that your vacation may be about more than "just getting wet". We also understand that you may have non-diving friends and family in tow, (don’t forget our Discover Scuba for non divers to experience scuba in one day, our Mangrove Tours, Glass Bottom boat charters and snorkeling experiences), and so we have special deals and discounts on various attractions - only available to Capt. Slate’s Scuba Adventures Guests. Check out some of our recommendations below:

Theatre of the Sea

A must do educational adventure for the entire family, Theatre of the Sea is located just 5 miles south of our store on the ocean and features a 17-acre marine mammal park. The shows integrate anatomy, physiology and husbandry into and entertaining and educational format. Guided tours feature many species of marine life, tropical birds, and reptiles. Ride the bottomless boat or swim with the dolphins, many programs offered, a must do. Family owned and operated for over 65 years.

History of Diving Museum

Here is the largest collection of diving history in one place a ‘must see’ for all divers and lovers of the ocean. You will feel like Captain Nemo as you navigate through the maze of exhibits and relive the story of man’s quest to explore under the sea. Marvel at the courage of diving pioneers throughout the ages and the contributions to technology, marine science, underwater photography and treasure hunting. Located only 6 miles south of our store in Islamorada.

Coral Restoration Foundation

Visit their center in Key Largo and go on a dive and experience actually planting corals on our reefs. CRF is one of the only organizations in the world that is solely devoted to the restoration of coral reefs. Be a coral reef emissary and come dive with one of our scheduled ‘plantings’ of new growth corals from the 5 undersea coral nurseries. Check our calendar of events and sign up for the dives.

Keys History & Discovery Center

Located in the Guy Harvey Islander Resort just south about 7 miles from our store. Come discover our unique Florida Keys History. See the history in photos of Henry Flagler’s railroad that went to the sea and photos of the hurricane of 1935 that swept the railroad away and much of Islamorada. Learn the stories of legendary anglers and fishing guides and much more. Many seminars and ‘meet and greets’ with the living legends’ scheduled year around.

Florida Keys Stand Up
Paddle Boards

After a great lunch at Marker 88 Restaurant you can enjoy the beautiful beach either swimming or going out on the bay in a kayak or on a stand up paddle board available from “Florida Keys Stand Up Paddle Boards”, located directly on the Marker 88 beach.
