INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE (IDC)

$2195 includes 9 day IDC instruction, all instructor related books and materials, PADI IE fees, All inclusive package. IDC only $1095

The PADI Instructor Development Course at Capt. Slate’s will help prepare the PADI Divemasters to become Career Instructors.

You will use the skills and knowledge acquired during your Divemaster course while learning how to teach the PADI System of Diver Education in the classroom, confined and open water.

The IDC is the heart of a developmental process that allows the instructor candidates to learn in a low stress environment. By concentrating on development and not tests, the candidate can learn more effectively.

The Capt. Slate’s Instructor Development Course is conducted over 9 days to allow you enough time to absorb the material and shorten the classroom days. Our personal attention, small classes, clear warm waters and experienced caring Course Directors and IDC Staff Instructors are the best learning environment for you.

There is no better place for you to train to become a Professional Scuba Instructor. We teach you HOW TO TEACH and not simply how to pass a exam.

Topics presented during the IDC include: Teaching the Open Water Diver Course; continuing education courses; Discover Experiences; The Recreational Dive Planner; lesson planning and preparation; conducting confined and open water classes; legal responsibility and risk management; and marketing the various PADI courses to name a few.

Our goal during the IDC is to guide you to becoming a Professional Career Instructor for life after the Instructor Evaluation.

Prerequisites: PADI Divemaster or Assistant Instructor or equivalent Instructor from another agency. Submit proof of Medic First Aid or CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months.

Submit a PADI medical examination form signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

Have a minimum of 100 logged dives and have been a certified diver for at least 12 months to attend the PADI IE.

Certification: You will submit the PADI IDC Application with a $95.00 registration fee to PADI upon completion of this program. Upon successful completion of the PADI IE you will earn your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating from PADI International in California.
