The DAN (Divers Alert
Network) and PADI Oxygen First Aid Provider Specialty courses are basic training classes in how to administer oxygen to divers in the
event of a diving accident.
These
programs are a full day in the classroom, and are prerequisites before entering
the DAN O2 and PADI Oxygen First Aid Specialty Instructor Course.
These courses are taken in conjunction with
the Rescue Diver course so that you will be better prepared in the event of an
actual emergency.
Although these
programs are optional, it is highly recommended that you take these, as the
more training you have in this regard, the easier it will be for you to show
potential employers that you are prepared to handle any problem should the need
arise.
Prerequisite: Medic First Aid or First Aid &
CPR training
Minimum age is 18 years old for IDC career candidates, or age 12 for non-career
students.
Certification: You will receive the DAN O2 provider
and as a bonus the PADI Oxygen First Aid Specialty
certification cards and appropriate diplomas.
You will want to become a DAN member and support this worthwhile
organization.
